   Emmy Noether sent a postcard to Felix Klein #OTD in 1918, explaining a special case of her second theorem. The full result was published that year in her "Invariante Variationsprobleme" paper.

     @mcnees During my studies, this theorem was one of the most difficult for me to understand. It will remain a mystery to me how one can come up with such ideas. I still can't understand why it is not regularly mentioned in lists of geniuses
