In my household, we had a company that billed us every three months. They sent their bills by e-mail, and the e-mails contained no details, but pdfs were attached -- blank pdfs.As you can imagine, problems eventually arose.
I prefer to receive my bills by the post.

But that would have required me to know that I would be getting electric bills in my email to begin with.

If it arrives in my paper mailbox it is the only thing in the paper mailbox. If it arrives in my email it is a drop in the ocean.
I searched for the electricity company's name and it turns out I have been receiving a bill every two months.
