@galdor I'm of two minds on this. The downside of this approach is that if the software becomes too successful too fast, it ends up crippling the standard due to the lack of implementation in what becomes the de fact reference implementation (case in point, Mastodon vs ActivityPub)

Not anymore. Software is meant to be used. Nowadays I just implement the bare minimum and add the rest either when I need it or someone pays me to. Less work, less stress.
