Anyone have a recommendation for a (cheap) external CD/DVD drive that will work with the M1 MacBook Pro? See lots of $30-$40 models advertised, but all of them have reviews saying they don't work (or work consistently) with newer Macs.
@mcnees I have been using the LG Slim Portal Blu-Ray Drive model BP50NB40. It is a bit more expensive than the 30-40 dollar models yet I know it works like a charm :)
@mcnees I got this last month to format-shift some home movies and recital recordings, works well with an M1 MBP: Alphami External Blu ray Drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BQBRYKBW
@mcnees The enclosure for this #ASUS Zen Drive 8X SDRW-08U9M- U includes a 2 headed cable type C and type A and instructions for MAC. Unfortunately I'm PC so still no guarantee
I've bought a couple of "cheap" ($20-30) drives that have choked on me. Finally I just went with a near-new Apple SuperDrive from eBay for about the same price, still going strong. For delicate parts in a type of device much less often used this decade, I'm more confident in an Apple product from 15 years ago than a whatever product from now.
