   Cosmologist Michael Turner's whimsical "Funny Energy" illustrations appeared on the front of the NYT science section #OTD in 1998, following a 3 day meeting at Fermilab over puzzling supernova observations that suggested an accelerating Hubble expansion.

     The term "Funny Energy" didn't really resonate, so Turner coined the term "Dark Energy" later that year.

     Nevertheless, you still occasionally see Einstein's equations written using the old notation:

     Rᵤᵥ - ½ gᵤᵥ R + 🤡 gᵤᵥ = 8 π G Tᵤᵥ
