   Something I have done because of the same problem was add a feed to follow the hashtags News, Journalism, Journalist, CNN, WSJ, etc., and I mute the people I don't care about and follow the people I notice are particularly worth following.

   I'm getting much closer to a more curated news feed while also finding some people in those spheres worth putting on my home feed.

   I'm going to do it for each of my interests in turn!

   I enjoy @mcnees posts on astronomy/physics as my suggestion!

     I'm realizing that one barrier to really embracing Mastodon is that I don't follow enough people here yet, so when I check in there are only a handful of new posts to read and I leave.

     Recommend some folks I should follow, if you are so inclined.
