   The students in my upper-level electrodynamics course are taking their final exam right now, which always reminds me of the time I told my students they could bring a formula sheet to the final exam as long as it was on one side of a piece of paper.

     That same semester, a grader for our Quantum Mechanics class told a different student (who submitted really long homework papers) "you aren't writing the Magna Carta."

     That student turned in his next homework on a handmade "Magna Quanta."

     @gkemp Well, I told them a piece of 8.5"x11" paper. I remembered that part. I just didn't specify that it had to be orientable.

     @ianchanning When my daughter was 4, she would start asking questions after I’d tuck her into bed like “dad, how does gravity work?” You have to respect knowing what easy marks your parents are, at such a young age.

     @mcnees this reminds me of the Time-Life series of science and nature books my parents put in my room when I was a child. I was too young to really appreciate it then, but I learned about Mobius strips, Klein bottles, and how to remove a shirt without first removing the vest covering it. Topology is fun!
