   i wonder whether spinning Oklahoma's resumption of executions as "US state resumes program of human sacrifice" would make people think twice about casually supporting it?

     @thamesynne I think the Catholic Church might be consistently "pro-life" as in being against the death penalty, but the U.S.A. political attitudes are set up in a way that it's hard to see coherency...

     @bsmall2 @thamesynne yeah i think the Catholic church actually is against the death penalty as part of a "consistent life ethic" but in practice a lot of Catholics support it and there have been some surveys correlating intense religious Catholicism and strong anti abortion views with strong support of capital punishment and torture, its pretty fucked up
