@AmpBenzScientist Norway is a good country if you're normal. it's hell if you're different, in my experience.

Thorwegian βοΈ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Jun-2022 02:36:14 UTC Thorwegian βοΈ @AmpBenzScientist the Norwegian government is hostile to that. there have been a lot of cases where this arrangement has been exploited. people have been made to create a sole proprietorship in order to survive, so if the government sees a sole proprietorship that was only created so someone could survive, they strike down on it. if some company hires a sole proprietorship and it looks too much like employment, it's considered to be exploitation.
i disagree with the Norwegian government on this point.

If not maintenance, perhaps they would consider someone with a background in tech for another position.

Thorwegian βοΈ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Jun-2022 02:36:16 UTC Thorwegian βοΈ @AmpBenzScientist the issue with me in a 9-to-5 position is that the bailiff (Namsmann) will seize any income beyond the minimum to survive. it will not help me pay the rent.
however, if i can send an invoice for my work, then my AS (limited company) could pay the rent.

Thorwegian βοΈ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Jun-2022 02:36:17 UTC Thorwegian βοΈ @AmpBenzScientist sure, seeing as i'm unemployed, if i could pay off rent that way, i'd do that, but i doubt they'd be willing...

Thorwegian βοΈ (thor@berserker.town)'s status on Tuesday, 28-Jun-2022 02:36:20 UTC Thorwegian βοΈ there's an increasing chance that i'll get evicted from my apartment due to rent control issues. it would be my first ever eviction, in that case.
i can pay a fraction of what i owe, at the cost of life quality, and maybe i'll still get evicted, because it didn't pay the whole rent.
on top of this is a mountain of debt.
i feel i didn't do anything particularly wild to end up here. i was just being human. did what i could, while trying to have a decent life.
it feels unfair, no matter what anyone says.
