@FiXato All good points, and much needed/appreciated context for this thread as a fixed point of reference.
The more ethical activism I engage in, and the more the laws here change to illegitimise that, the more protected I'd like to be. I'm under no illusion that this would be a catch-all security option, nor that it'll suddenly grant me magic powers. Thinking more a resasuring safety net.

definitely fair reasons. :) Then you'd ideally be looking for a VPN provider operating and established in a different country, preferably one that's unlikely to cooperate with yours I guess.

@FiXato So @rabbithearth has suggested ProtonVPN based in Switzerland - which is highly unlikely to compromise its data security to UK levels, but then given as laws and borders are all fictional who knows.
