   For a brief moment in the 60s, rock bands were like, "Indian music is fantastic—let's put sitars and tablas in everything!"

   And we collectively just forgot about that.

   Meanwhile in India, they continue making the world's best party music.

     @atomicpoet The 90s electronic scene started to incorporate Indian music (as well as other cultures). I remember seeing Talvin Singh playing the tabla live during a d'n'b show.

     Sadly most of that era was dismissed.

     @thom @atomicpoet The UK indie pop scene had a brief moment in the late 90s when it became UK India pop with e.g. Kula Shaker. But only a brief one.
