     @clacke The job requires a shallow, mindless, unscrupulous huckster. We already peaked. Many times. That is, I keep thinking we've peaked, but then the next one comes along. The real question is how to produce citizens, not leaders.

     @clacke I suspect Michelle Obama could make a pretty good go of it. A few more black president would perhaps improve the USA's race equality.

     Elizabeth Warren was a good choice. Bernie Sanders was also pretty good. This is of recent candidates, of course.

     The President matters less than the Senate, though. Our biggest problem is that we have partisan gridlock and can't pass any but the most tepid and anodyne legislation.

     The 2nd biggest is that one of our two major parties has run off the rails into fascist crazytown. Not that they were ever really good, but they weren't batshit crazy before.
