When people talk about using "green energy" to mine cryptocurrency, I can't help but think about what else that energy could have been used for.

@me One of the greatest fallacies about proof-of-work cryptocurrencies is that they would somehow be "energy storage" because of the energy consumed to mine it, generating value that can be used to buy energy back.
Not the same energy, mind you, which is why cryptocurrencies definitely don't work as a battery, but the mental gymnastics to arrive at this flawed conclusion anyway is impressive to me.
