Lots of people are responding saying I shouldn't get an iPhone. Are there any android versions that have similar privacy features?

With that said, they both suck, but they have a few unique selling points.
With Android you get some freedom, but your phone is obsolete in 2 years. While you have zero freedom with Apple, but they'll support the hardware for a long time instead.

Just to reiterate, I've been an Android fan since the beginning. The direction Google is headed is dark though, and I don't want to be a part of it. Apple seems to want to build a name for itself as an OS that blocks spying apps. I'd rather pay an exorbitant amount for a phone and know that the profit comes from; from that purchase. Whereas, Google's comes primarily from selling my info (read: soul)!

Hund (hund@fosstodon.org)'s status on Saturday, 09-Apr-2022 11:30:23 UTC Hund @pixelatedfist I think they both suck in terms of privacy. I personally think that Android is better *if* you know how to flash a custom AOSP ROM without GApps.
