Santa Claes πΈπͺππ°π (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Saturday, 02-Apr-2022 08:55:26 UTC Santa Claes πΈπͺππ°π @aryak This article was a difficult read because it got so many things wrong or even backwards. Where it is correct it is irrelevant, except three points:
- ARM and AMD are not our friends, they're corporations just like Intel and Intel has been a bigger bully simply because it could, because it was bigger and stronger.
- Capitalism vs Communism is a great analogy for CISC vs RISC, but not for the reason stated; It's fitting because CISC beat RISC in the 90s and now it's peaking and people are again looking for alternatives.
- ARM is not the future, but that's not because Intel is; Our interstellar ships 1000 years from now will be emulating both x86-64 and AArch64, but they're more likely to be natively running on RISC-V than any other currently existing ISA.
