   It blows my mind that Germany, or any other country would decommission their nuclear power plants in favor of buying gas from Russia.

   I'd think that a country would value energy independence, nevermind the carbon being released into the atmosphere by the burning of fossil fuel.

     bUt FukUsHIma made 100 bIllion dEAd AND made half the eArth inhBItable.
     But no problem with gas and coal that made thousands death every year just in Europe. Germany has always valued its short term economy

     @ruffni both fair comments and concerns! I'm sure some very smart people in Germany weighed all the considerations and came up with this solution but ugh, it's just hard for me to understand how buying gas from Russia is better than buy Uranium from Canada.

     and mining also emits carbon....
