   I bought the best ceramic soup bowl from the Chinese supermarket the other day. cute design, nice size, has a handle and plastic lid. but it has a sticker on it that says "Warning: Cancer and Reproductive Harm. www.P65Warnings.ca.gov"

   the website is a clearinghouse of info about potentially toxic substances, but I can't find anything about carcinogenic dishware. can anyone tell me more? how likely is it that the ceramic is fine and the lid just isn't heat-safe?

     @gamehawk @twistylittlepassages It's true, prop 65 warnings are on everything! Mushrooms, chocolate, etc etc. I doubt there's anything toxic about your bowl

     @Zero_Democracy thanks! yeah I was reading up on toxic glazes, but this bowl is totally white on the inside, and there doesn't seem to be any issue with white/clear glazes. so :shrug_g1: guess it's time for some soup!

     @twistylittlepassages It could have anything to with anything from packaging to the types of pigment used in the glaze - the latter shouldn't be a problem if it's properly sealed. Prop 65 is worse than useless in a lot of cases because it provides no context or proportionality.
