And the internet allows for legit sources; Twitter can verify the Minister for Tech, videos verifiably show Ukraine, and can be compared to online maps.
Even the famous 'ghost of Kyiv' legend typically comes with the subtitle "I want to believe", because everyone knows it's just a fun rumour.

No one's going to bother fact-checking until after they've spread the posts
