RSS/IndieWeb makes me uncomfortable because while microblogging sites like Mastodon allow you to share privately, I don't know if RSS does. At the very least, if it's on your site, anyone can view it publicly. Including bad actors without so much as a trace!
IndieWeb has something like private posts, but I don't consider it to be ready-for-everyone.

I am pretty sure my university had RSS feeds for courses that can be fetched only with authentication. I remember I had to use a RSS reader that let me import the cookie responsible for authentication
