I think everyone here understands that it will not be good for the browser ecosystem if Chromium effectively becomes the new Internet Explorer (of the 1990s), marching ahead with non-standard APIs. The frustration is that Mozilla devs seem to be so entrenched in the box of "any file access is a security breach" that genuinely useful and well implemented draft APIs are getting almost summarily dismissed. ..>>

Nate Cull (natecull@mastodon.social)'s status on Saturday, 26-Feb-2022 07:23:53 UTC Nate Cull Well specifically they're opposing implementing the Google-led "File System Access API" because users accessing their local files, not involving a third party web server, == OMG INSECURE for some reason.

Locking this conversation. We asked folks a week ago (#154 (comment)) to keep it on topic and subsequent comments for the most part have not, nor have they added any new technical information (advocacy, "implications", "consequences", SDO processes, and market dynamics are not; there are other venues for those things, and if youβre not sure where, start with your own blog). >>
Yep. Lock that conversation Mozilla. Lock it good.
