@lawremipsum I have a story of a time taking a standardized test in elementary school where i was refusing to go in and take the test, something that I now realize is most likely an executive function "block". The school ended up calling my parents in to try to get me to do it (i eventually got over the block and did fine), and I later learned that part of the reason was that my participation was likely to noticeably bump up the school's overall results.

kepstin (kepstin@glitch.social)'s status on Saturday, 19-Feb-2022 22:12:04 UTC kepstin @lawremipsum as best i can tell, the conditions that lead to me being moved to a gifted program were something that came out of an undiagnosed condition - likely ADHD - and I really struggled in the program, and even more so later in university. I've only realized that it might be a problem, to start looking into options for dealing with or treating it, as an adult.
On the other hand, I met some folks who remain really good friends in the alternate schools I went to, soβ¦
