Most likely mp3 files will be playable for as long as there are computers, because it's a documented, widely supported format, and AFAIK no longer encumbered by patents.
although telephone calls are a distraction (I try and avoid them when driving even with full Bluetooth handsfree capability) the real problems are caused by messaging, social media use and even scrolling through music apps/playlists.
Round here they use cops on motorcycles, one plain one and one uniformed to catch out drivers using their phones at the wheel outside of a hands free system...
Iโd say that I would be safer doing 20 over and actually paying attention. But hey whatever.
Shoot. Went in rant and forgot what point I was going to make. Oh about distraction I guess. ๐
@strypey if I'm not listening to traditional linear radio I only listen to MP3s in the car; whilst my sound system will do Bluetooth streaming it means dealing with the further distraction of the mobile phone app which is unsafe (in some cases outright illegal under UK traffic laws), lots of countries are starting to clamp down harder on distracted driving (and rightly so)
@vfrmedia @strypey I personally think we should be able to talk with the phone to your ear; hands free is only marginally less distracting, and most people message with the phone below windows level hit itโs bloody obvious where theyโre eyes areโฆ eg not on the road. Every second driver seems to be doing it though, and there are a crap ton of drivers doing 20 below the speed limit and obviously not watching the road and traffic.
