to be grateful that someone went above and beyond the call of duty is good
to demand that someone go above and beyond the call of duty is abuse
the latter should be a tautology but apparently it's blasphemous heresy guilty of death

"if he actually cares then he'd already know and would be actively looking for extra things to do to help"
if you see this, run, because this person has neither a basic understanding of boundaries nor the basic cognitive framework to develop a theory of mind
imagine someone actually trying to aspire to do this
imagine the clusterfuck of bizarre shit that gets done that nobody wanted
imagine the screaming once the intended beneficiary finds out how their partner just fucked up the house, the car, the pets at their mutual expense
what i'm not talking about: if you've actually made your desires known and they still refuse to comply
maybe they're evil, maybe they're clueless and afraid to ask or learn, maybe they're convinced it should not be done, but at least there's something that the person who wants the thing done can be legit upset at it not being done
anyway this is all a subtoot of the horrible notes all over this https://riotouseaterofflesh.tumblr.com/post/673163972171743232/credit-fruitybiss-on-tiktok-this-oh-my-god
@carcinopithecus This makes me so sad. It never even occurs to them that maybe the husband didn't want a dog, that getting a dog was a decision the wife made and the husband tolerated because he loves her. Maybe the husband knew they couldn't properly take care of a dog because they're both busy with work and they live an hour away from the nearest vet, and the wife overstepped his boundaries and got a dog anyway. Maybe the husband got the dog against his wife's wishes and is just a fuckup, we can't possibly know, but the only act of unkindness in the story that isn't speculation is his wife calling the vet *just to castigate them* and yet she's blameless in all of their stories. The projection is depressing
