Not a fan of this, #Freenode. If you're not misusing your authority or users, you will bounce back from this split. If you continue down the road you've chosen, you will one day close the doors and ask yourselves how this happened.
Not a fan at all, nor of the sycophants commenting that Andrew Lee is within his rights to seize channels in which the topic redirects people to other IRC networks.
The best thing to do is to make the split as amicable as possible, let projects choose where to go, and then get to work making your network better. The worst thing to do is to chase off anyone that isn't too apathetic to care what you do.
Remember when #Sourceforge got new owners that started seizing the SF pages for projects that had moved to Github and pretending the project was active at its former location?
That's what #Freenode is doing in this policy change.
