     Interestingly, they say “Safety Dance” peaked at #3 in the US in 1983-SEP, but I really feel like I heard it in late 1984 / early 1985 ... though I never saw the video until the 2010s, which argues for the earlier date.
     
     ( My friend Mike’s niece discovered music video shows around 1985 and eventually found MTV and lived there. This wouldn’t have been her kind of song, but it still probably would have been shown ... and I’m sure I would have seen it. )
