So, this week, I’ve talked with S, K, and Kenny. All are co-workers at $EMPLOYER and members of the #TechTeam.
* S has been off for somewhere near two years (family medical), is submitting her letter of resignation soon (she’s asked my help with composing it, but recent experience with my resume says she’s better off writing it alone).
* K has been off since last Summer, has used up his unemployment insurance benefits, and is looking outside the agency. He has not yet decided whether to quit even if he hasn’t found a replacement job.
* Kenny has been off for almost a year and a half (medical), is currently planning to stick around for another two years and then quit (assuming he can handle travel and work; if it was any other job, he’d retire)
Also talked with Mark, who works in a different department of the agency. His girlfriend found work at a local government agency in #SoCal that pays more and has benefits, so now she’s ready for him to find local work and buy her a ring.

I should add that even though $EMPLOYER is a non-medical agency, there’s some expectation that the agency will be called to assist with response to the #COVID-19 / #2019-nCoV outbreak.
Maybe I’ll learn how to put on a hazmat suit and spray people with disinfectant.
