Okay, so I'm exploring some ideas for the pi 0w as a network node and datamule.
I'm back to an idea I've had before, but of which I am really uncertain: Bluetooth networking!
I've considered BTLE and regular Bluetooth in the past, but information is scarce.
I'm fairly certain that the protocols involved are horribly insecure, but I can fix that on the software side with some handshaking and key exchange, yeah?

I just want the pi to be able to leverage it's second radio to look for other similarly configured devices in physical proximity, and for it to automatically negotiate an adhoc network between these two devices, exchange files, and terminate the network connection.
Of course, without encryption in transit and signing and verifying the exchanged files, this is dangerous.
I think this could be implemented with PFS for the exchange (autocrypt style) and signing/verifying is on the roadmap.

This sounds doable! Maybe even simple! But I'm having a heck of a time finding any userland info about BT networking in general, beyond using Bluetooth com ports, and even that seems fragile and difficult to negotiate automatically.
So, tech geniuses of the United Federation, I turn to you.
What am I missing? How would it work? What tools should I look in to?
