> On October 12, 2015, Dell Inc. announced that it would acquire EMC in a cash-and-stock deal valued at $67 billion—the largest-ever acquisition in the technology industry.
Wow, and I never even heard of EMC.
They are the majority or full owners of VMWare and RSA, and are apparently huge in the enterprise data storage sector, and also "ranked no. 2 on Fortune's list of the World’s Most Admired Computer Companies for the fifth consecutive year" in 2015.

Apparently EMC bought Likewise back in 2011. We used Likewise way back around 2000 for AD integration, because at the time it was a real turnkey solution that Just Worked, whereas Samba required more effort and had some issues.

> The ones who didn't want the GPLv3 (Apple) either wrote their own or purchased a proprietary third party server such as Likewise and were left holding a flaming bag of shit when EMC purchased the Likewise codebase and cancelled all existing support contracts.
