OK, badblocks scan finished (in 59:08:21) and all repairs done to get it to actually write the bad sectors list back to disk. now, I need that list...
-
@mk like this: dumpe2fs -b /dev/sdc1 > '/media/Sea2/Hardware (trblshtng)/Sea1-Sea2/Sea1_badblocks_take2.lst'
-
@mk now, I'm scrbbing the device, indicating its size (otherwise it things it's 2TB) - it still thinks that, but the number of bytes is higher than when I didn't specify it: scrub -s 3000G /dev/sdc
-
@mk and now I can go to sleep while it scrubs! (yawn) good night !tzaf !fediverse!
-
@mk scrub is still scrubbing away, showing a nice progress bar: scrub: random |........................................ |
-
@mk also, this is only the first of 4 passes - I may add another scrub method as well
-
@mk so, it seems scrub *does* detect the correct number of bytes but after a certain number qualifies that as "(~2TB)" - forcing it to "3000G" didn't work out because then near the end it craps out with "write /dev/sdc: No space left on device". :( OK - first pass of first scrub completed - I'll try again, without '-s 3000G' and specifying a different method...
-
@mk scrub is happily scrubbing again - command line this time: scrub -p dod /dev/sdc meanwhile Photos copying is trundling along at its snail pace, now working on a humongous directory (752 items copied so far, and nowhere near finished) - need to find some other activities for today while Nikola is working... :)
