With Amigas and C64s gone, what is the new demoscene?
Self-imposed restrictions? Maybe 32k demos, that kind of thing?
How about 140 characters of JS?

For new readers: #kestrel in this context means https://kestrelcomputer.github.io/kestrel , #riscv and fully-free-hardware goodness!
@vertigo A demo scene for fully free hardware would be awesome.

@dwmatiz Neat!

> P8 has been set up to have all the code, gfx and sound/music for each game squeezed into a self contained 'cartridge' (actually a .png image file with everything encoded into it) and these can be passed around and loaded into P8 as such but they can also be embedded into a web page and posted in a playable form to the lexaloffle bbs (forum).
That is a wonderfully hacky way to do it.

@coolboymew @dwmatiz I think #spore did something like this too, at least the mobile version of it.

@solderpunk @bcrypt I was waiting for someone to correct me on Amiga and C64 being "gone" after I realized I had phrased it that way. Of course they're not gone, people are having C64 demo parties to this day, and they're still cranking out impossible shit that nobody knew how to do the year before and which the hardware "cannot do". <3
I should have said "not generally available in the population". :-)
