@cameron @chriswere Another aspect is that via Patreon, Librepay etc. you can gain some loyalty. With not running ads you respect both the privacy and time of your viewers. They will appriciate that and give something back.
And: 10 people giving you 1$ per month is presumeably more than the crumbs from Google's/YT's table.
Furthermore it gives you independence. What if your videos get de-monetized for whatever insane reason?
