Did you just say monarchy makes sense because owning and profiting from a country gives you incentive to take care of it? :-O ;-)
Side note: After 5 years as President, Wen's extended family are, purely coincidentally I'm sure, among the richest in China. We'll see how the Xi clan fares.
First, he is an affable, inscrutable always-smiling panda.
Second, he has helped the country deal with many of its ills and he is setting a good agenda, domestically and internationally, apart from the naval armament and the ridiculous claims in the South China Sea.
Third, he fought corruption mainly by fighting it among his adversaries, not among his followers, and now he's pulling shit like this.
----
He is the first person since Mao to get his name into the constitution (outlining Xi Jinping Thought, the new socialist doctrine), and he has all the important posts to his name. Under Wen/Hu leadership was divided and that arrangement went a ways back, but now you never hear about prime minister Li. Never.
