• They describe the fediverse in negative terms as a "fractured userbase". Technically true, but not understanding why this is advantageous compared to a monolithic model
  
  
• Not enough of their friends are here (the network problem)
  
  
• They tried Mastodon once, but then the instance they were on disappeared
  
  
• They have commercial preconceptions about business models and a need for "competition" to be sustainable, not understanding that the fediverse isn't a business in the same way as Twitter of Facebook
