   Most medium range mobiles are getting between 32gb - 64gb storage in the next 2 years, 8-core processors, and 5G bandwidth in 5 years.
   When the basic capacity for local computation is satisfied for most uses, even some complex ones, the central "cloud" is made redundant.

     There is a window of opportunity for distributed architecture to flourish. After that window, if the means of memorisation aren't seized the zombie carcasses of legacy empires will fight tooth and nail for hegemonic discourse of post-capitalism.

     @xj9 @h yes, but at present there isn't any independent wireless data system. When I was in Manchester the wifi density was high, but it was all private and encrypted. Some coffee shops and the hackspace would have the wifi password on the wall, but that was about the extent of it and sometimes even that was behind a paywall. The early idea of ubiquitous open wifi never materialized.
     
     I notice that there are mesh routers starting to be sold with much longer range in the order of a few km. That could be a game changer.
