I hate to be one of those "third way" people, but I don't think nationalizing Google would achieve a lot. Whether a centralized information titan is run by a corporation or by a nation state with the State Capitalism model it's a similar kind of deal.

Really we need a better model for public ownership of infrastructure which doesn't have too few people wielding too much power. Something like a commons based model. What would YouTube be like if it was run as a coop of video producers?
