In the USSR, Socialism presented an alternative to Capitalism in the field of mass production via rapid industrialisation. Now that that's gone, multinational corporations are seen as the only way to efficiently produce material goods and create jobs and skills outside of agriculture. This has given multinats huge leverage with states, which are beholden to multinationals with shrinking wages and deregulation. What alternative can the Left today truly provide? Hacker spaces and communal gardens?
