   Any #BasicIncome people here?

   Well, if so, I just want to make sure you know that what others describe as utopia is actually, if read literally… already the law of every State that is in the U.N.
   Doesn't demand citizenship of any of that nonsense.

   Also, "utopia" does mean "no place",… but that it is no place NOW, doesn't mean it can't BECOME a place.
   Making it exist is humanity's obligation towards all future life.

     @b9ace Not every state that is in the UN. And as @risabee says, the UDHR is not a legal document, it is poetry and vision. The legal documents are the negative-rights enwp.org/International_Covenant_on_Civil_and_Political_Rights and the more controversial (e.g. the US didn't ratify it) positive-rights enwp.org/International_Covenant_on_Economic,_Social_and_Cultural_Rights .

     @b9ace I believe that if we can't get off the welfare state, the Basic Income is the most efficient welfare state. We have, in practice, a Basic Income today, but it's full of loopholes and inefficiencies and part of a regulation complex that puts people in the unemployment and benefits trap.

     @b9ace @risabee But customary law is the law that people have acted in accordance with. So the UDHR forms part of international customary law except when it doesn't. It's a source of definitions and references, but if nobody has implemented a UBI, nobody can claim that because of some interpretation of the document, everybody should.
