Sooo… we said humans gave birth ~9 months and then completed development after birth, as other animals don't, due to brain-size/hip contraint vs walking ability, right?

Well, seems by later knowledge we run just as well with (reasonably) wider hips.
Just, the host can't sustain metabolism for two internally any further at that point, so the offspring must be externalised to the care of the entire group's capability.
Bigger brains need cooperation.
