One thing about the guy I mention in https://loadaverage.org/conversation/8880653#notice-9944920 is that he doesn't really have a passion for #freesoftware. Even though he does Linux support, he's pretty firmly in the Apple camp (as are at least a of the other techs in my dept).

I could almost certainly find something closer to home, but I'd need to do non-Linux work, or support completely closed software, and that feels like such a huge step backwards that I don't really want to do it.

To be clear, I wouldn't mind working with #BSD or another #FLOSS OS, but that's not really what I'm talking about.
