I was an IRC daemon developer.

I saw how badly Balkanisation affected IRC. Stupid admin fights the user is forced to take sides on when they didn't ask for it.

It doesn't even matter who "wins." You've torn yourself asunder. You're in pieces now.

Every time that happens you weaken bit by bit by bit.

IRC admins didn't want to get along with each other for bullshit political reasons. Often as stupid as "my server protocol is better than your protocol."

Don't do this. This way lies madness.
