a good habit is to assume that everything you do will be immediately compromised
cuts down on unnecessary actions and increases caution for the ones you do
- Hallå Kitteh repeated this.

@hakui but what if everything you do WONT be immediately compromised, like things are actually supposed to work? shouldn't accept the complete lack of security and privacy as a standard, lest it becomes one
-
@why "These things aren't true because we don't care and don't try to stop them, they're true because everything is broken because there's no good code and everybody's just trying to keep it running."

@why @hakui how can i even check the integrity of the hardware I'm on though? how do I know this device isn't programmed to kill my dad and steal my girlfriend?
it's turtles all the way down unless you have super high knowledge of the area. how do I know LetsEncrypt isn't just a CIA front?

@eris @hakui @why although it may be extremely difficult to close all the possible security holes, you shouldn't let that prevent you from minimizing your risk and exposure as much as possible. This is a perfect solution fallacy.
