Stephen Sekula (steve@chirp.cooleysekula.net)'s status on Monday, 30-Jun-2014 01:04:52 UTC Stephen Sekula Well, reinstalling this server for pump.io has been a nightmare. It refuses to let me install ubuntu server 14.04 from any of either two DVDs or a USB key. The result is always the same. At 12% of the progress of copying installation files to disk, it fails. I have tried re-downloading the ISO image twice. One of those DVDs was the one I used to install the main server a few days back, so I know it works just fine. I am trying to make a USB key of 14.04 desktop edition now and I will see what happens there. #maddening -
Stephen Sekula (steve@chirp.cooleysekula.net)'s status on Monday, 30-Jun-2014 01:06:37 UTC Stephen Sekula I should note that I also already ran a memory test on the system, assuming it was a bad memory I/O causing the problem. It passed the memtest86 program with flying colors. #doublemaddening -

What if you swap drives, install from the other computer, then swap them back?

Stephen Sekula (steve@chirp.cooleysekula.net)'s status on Monday, 30-Jun-2014 03:39:28 UTC Stephen Sekula @lnxw48: neither the old or new drive would accept an Ubuntu installation until I replaced the SATA cable. Then both were happy. #wtf
