@sim If not us, who will extend, promote, defend, protect, and enforce human rights?
We will do what must be done to prevent fascism because it isn't right to simply stand by and say nothing until the populist dictator selects your community as the next target.
However, we must also not rejoice in defeating fascists, because that makes us less than they are.
By stepping up against fascism and silencing hate, you are the opposite of the fascist. The anti-fascist is protecting the hated and the persecuted whilst the fascist is the opposite. Many people consider comparisons to the Nazi regime to be inappropriate and cliche in this new american context, but I argue that this is the most similar period in postmodern history to the rise of Fascism in Europe. The means may appear to be similar, but if you recall the Nuremberg trials the Nazis were put in court before being executed, unlike the Poles and the Jews who were, shot, gassed, and incinerated. The point isn't to attack Nazis because of who they are, but because of what they do. We don't need a populist authoritarian leader to tell us to do this. Good willed people willing to protect the weak will take initiative on their own and they are already doing so. That is the difference between us and them. #antifa

@lnxw48 These sorts of things online are scaring me about going back to work in Monday's recall, 26 USC 7212 notwithstanding.
