No, the official term is “soft notice”. They’re the nice prelude to an all-out, no-holds-barred audit. Palantir is a marvelous tool for analytics, I hear. That there is a dedicated centralized data analytics staff for IRS using Palantir and far more should give people pause. https://quitter.im/notice/10338957
Everybody thought with the Snowden revelations that they needed to fear the NSA. That was misguided. Other agencies that actually enforce laws gaining spook-grade analytics is more dangerous.
