Looking east over Lake Michigan about an hour after sunrise. The sun glows golden yellow a few degrees above the horizon, and the sky runs from a deep peach color near the horizon to a cool blue above. There is a haze of cloud that gives the light a dreamy quality. The beach is golden brown, with tracks from a tractor that was raking the sand. A dark jetty -- just a row of pilings -- juts out into the lake. The water is silvery blue and reflects the gold and beach light.
