A pixelated, 16x16 grayscale image of Pluto captured by Hubble in 1995. There is a roughly circular bright patch, with some white pixels near the top suggestive of a bright, reflective surface.

   An awful lot has changed since that first APOD post!

   In 1995 our best image of Pluto was a Hubble capture, taken about a year before APOD’s first post. That was only six months or so after the initial service mission (STS-61) to repair Hubble's flawed optics!
