8. Test of Insight. This 40’x60’ room is arranged as a courtroom, with a judge’s stand, witness stand, tables for prosecutor and defendant, jury box, and audience seats. A single candle burns on the judge’s stand. As the PCs enter, most of these seats become filled with Ghosts, 30 in total, who fade into view and see the characters. The ghosts are not hostile, and the Judge invites the PCs to take part in the ongoing trial. A peasant woman, Gismon, has been accused of using witchcraft to destroy the crops of her neighbor, farmer Topher. Topher claims to have seen her out performing magic in the woods at night, and he reported the case to the local lord, Viscount Gobert, who brought the case forward. The trial is being presided over by the Viscount’s lord, Grand Duke Serle.
