A Harrowing Tale That Explains Why Everyone on Mastodon Needs to Get Off It Right Now I have never had my social media account at any social media platform suspended. But it just happened at Mastodon, a place I have posted so few times that I can literally count them on a single hand. In one post, I introduced myself; in another asked a question about a Mastodon feature; in a third advised users that I would be at Post News primarily going forward. Apparently in response to the third of these three “toots” on Mastodon, my account there was summarily suspended—though only many, many days after what apparently was the offending toot. To be clear, I can only guess at what happened. The suspension notice, which is below, does not tell me what I was suspended for and quite deliberately blocks me from even reviewing my own Mastodon account to see what I might have done wrong.
