Cones of light at the top and bottom contrast against cones of shadow to the left and right. The brightest part near the center is crossed by a dark line. The image is redder at the top where the dust is thicker, and bluer at the bottom where there is less dust. Various galaxies and foreground stars are visible throughout the image, but less so on the left upper and central side where the dust obscures them. Intricate textures from dust shaped by outflows from the star are visible throughout the light cones.
