My enthusiasm for the renewed activity at https://forgefed.org took one of the current ForgeFed maintainers by surprise and I deeply apologize for proceeding without their explicit approval, which they needed to remind me in a private email where they sounded very upset. I incorrectly assumed @fr33domlover pat on the back was all that was needed to move forward. As a sign of respect for their continued leadership of the @forgefed project, the new repositories and website will be shutdown.

@geekgonecrazy @fr33domlover @forgefed I hope everyone involved will understand it is in the best interest of the project to add new maintainers to keep alive.

@dimitrisk @rysiek @RyunoKi @astro @forgefriends @forgefed I tend to agree: knowing the vast majority of internet search go through Google, it would be surprising that discovering software projects is predominantly dependent on GitHub.

@samuelroland @gitea @NGIZero @forgefriends Gitea is not federated just yet. "Joining" is to be understood as "thanks to the NLnet funding there will be concrete progress to implement federation natively in Gitea" 😉

@samuelroland @gitea @NGIZero the ultimate goal of @forgefriends is to be redundant... when all forges natively implement federation. And with this funding Gitea is the first forge to commit to concretely move in this direction, therefore it is indeed a very big step, first of its kind 🎉
